August 1 is National
Minority Donor
Awareness Day
There is a rising need for minority donors in CORE's region and across the United States.
This event focuses on heightening awareness among minorites about the importance of organ and tissue donation.
In addition, it aims to dispell common myths and misconceptions that might be a hindrance.
Did You Know...?
-
African Americans are at risk for many illnesses like high blood pressure, diabetes and heart disease that can lead to the need for an organ transplant
-
Nearly 30,000 of the 100,000 people waiting for a transplant are African American
-
Tragically, every 12 minutes another person is added to the waiting list and 18 people die each day due to lack of donors
