A special tribute to some of America's greatest entertainers, the African-American magicians, will also take place that evening.

Did You Know?
Unlike their counterparts like Harry Houdini, considered to be one of the greatest magicians of all time, African-American magicians did not receive their just due.  Houdini learned his signature tricks such as 'The Chinese Water Torture' and the 'Handcuff Escape' from two African-American magicians.  Also, before international superstar magician David Blaine, there was the legendary African-American magician 'The Black Herman' who perfected the 'Buried Alive' technique almost 100 years ago.

Also, as part of this historical event kick off, a magic show contest will take place at Borders Eastside store, Saturday April 17, 2010 @ 1:00 - 5:00 pm.  The contest is for ages 16 and up and the winner will have a chance to appear on stage at AN EVENING OF MAGIC & MUSIC  performance.  The event is free and open to the public, so come out and help judge some of Western Pennsylvania's top magicians.
