Smithsonian National Museum of African Arts
and attendance at the DanceAfrica DC 2008 Festival.

June 7, 2008 – 5:00 am – Depart Pittsburgh from the Kingsley Center parking lot.

10:00 amArrive Washington, DC - Visit the National Museum of African Arts Smithsonian, for a guided tour of the museum of the collection of objects ranging from ceramics, furniture, masks, textiles, from the ancient to contemporary times.  

12:00 pm - Arrive at DanceAfrica DC Festival’s African Style Market Place. Visit vendors who offer crafts, visual art, clothing, and the Children’s Tent.  Have, lunch and enjoy food from around the world.  Ladies, you will love to shop at their global market place.  This day will be a memorable experience.

1:00 pm      Drum Circle led by Dame Gueye
2:00 pm      Lesole Dance Projects with Rainbow Theatre of South Africa
3:00 pm      Sankofa Dance Theater
4:00 pm      Bonita Cacho with Andrew Cacho African Drummers and Dancers
5:00 pm      Village Celebration with Coyaba Dance Theatre
6:00 pm      Balafon African Dance Company – with Pittsburgh’s own Mama Kadiatou
                  and Chisala Brown, one of The Legacy Arts Project performers.

(Or if you prefer to attend the 3.00 p.m. matinee of the indoor performance at the Dance Place Theater.)
